Well it's been a while since I've written.  Things have been hectic.  I was driving home from one of my personal training sessions when my truck died.  I got it restarted and drove a little ways before it died again, restarted it and made it to my driveway before it quit and wouldn't start.
This put a bit of a damper - sarcastic - on going to Red Deer to work out, we live 40 minutes out of town and I can't get in without a vehicle.
Of course we didn't have the money so that's why the delay in reporting anything.  Other than walking the dog, doing some weights at home, I haven't done much of my training.  I have mostly stuck to my diet.

I am proud to say that through all this stress I didn't gain any weight but actually lost a pound!! So, small victory. I am now back to my workouts with a driving vehicle and back on track.

I met my new trainer today, Kathy.  She is awesome, very different from Samantha, but that's ok too.  Samantha was more of a cross-circuit trainer and Kathy is a leg and arm day type of trainer.  So, now I can't walk, lol, because today was a leg day.

I will try to post a little more regularly from now on. I just finished making a dozen egg muffins for easy quick breakfasts.  Organizing my meals with cut up veggies, meat and portion sizes has been fun, and it's what has helped the most on keeping me on track with my food.

Arm day on Thursday so tomorrow will be cardio at home.  Thank goodness it's going to be a little warmer tomorrow.  -16 instead of -30.  Might even be able to walk the dog without either of us freezing.

Food overload

Today is the first day I will follow my trainer's nutritional meal plan for all my meals and snacks. I just received it yesterday afternoon and only had supper from it.

Well today I feel like I'm eating sooooo much food.  I never ate this much before and I've only gotten through breakfast, lunch and two snacks.  I could probably not eat till tomorrow and feel satisfied but I still have dinner left.

Its going to be very hard to get used to the concept that you have to eat more to lose weight.  We are ingrained with eat less and move more.  So I will be moving more but I will also be eating more.  It's more of the right kind of food but it's still more.

Besides food I will be moving more.  Yesterday at the gym was the 2nd part of my fitness assessment. I did 9 push-ups (awful!) and 24 crunches (also awful!) and in a timed one minute I did 11 squats (even more awful!!).   We will retest this again in 4-6 weeks.  I can't wait to move those numbers from awful to something a little more respectful.

You would think with all of this planning and accountability with my trainer I would be set and it would be impossible to fail.  Well I hope so and I am certainly going to give it my all.  And hopefully in spite of my self esteem issues and laziness I will pull this off!

Health, here i come!!!!

Burpee hell

Well today I learned what a burpee is.  I am not thankful for that knowledge.

I had the first part of my fitness assessment at the gym yesterday, it might have only taken one but we chatted too much.  So, I have my second part tomorrow, Friday.  My trainer told me to expect to do push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks plus I will have to learn how to do bur-pees.

I didn't know what they were so this morning my goal was to Google burpees and find out.  This led me to a few YouTube videos and I was shocked with the result.  I don't know who came up with this exercise, but I dislike you very much.  lol

Good morning!

It's beautiful here in Central Alberta this morning. It was so quiet on my morning walk with the dog and a little chilly but not too bad. We are supposed to warm up even more later today.

I weighed myself this morning, it's been a week since I started keeping track of everything and I was very excited, I am down 2.5 lbs. I picked a gym yesterday and I start this afternoon with my personal trainer and I'm excited about that too!  Her name is Samantha and the gym is 360 Fitness in Red Deer.

I have heard so many good things about this gym and my first visit went very well.  It was with Jack, I think he's the owner, he made me feel very comfortable.  He didn't even react when I got emotional about my reason for being there.  Anyone else ever done that?  Tear up a little when you talk about needing to lose weight and why now etc?  He just let it go and I got myself under control.  He showed me around and it looks like a great place.  They even have a sauna!!

One downside I miss hubby and realized today that he still has another 2 weeks and 2 days before he'll be home :( Guess everything can't be going so well.

But I will concentrate today on remembering that I lost 2.5 lbs!!!!  lol That will keep me in a good mood all day!
Hope everyone is having a good Hump Day!

10 degrees colder than yesterday made for a freezing walk this morning.  It was very cool when we seen two deer out on the golf course and of course the phone battery was almost dead so I couldn't use the camera.  They bolted pretty quick anyway.

It's a new week and I'm looking forward to it.  I will have two free consults with personal trainers in Red Deer tomorrow and I hope I pick the right one to whip my butt.  I need it!   Its very easy to get in to a do-nothing routine when you work from home and spend so much time alone.

My breakfast this morning wasn't very Paleo but it was good and I really enjoyed it.  I had an open face fried egg sandwich with ham, laughing cow cheese and mustard plus a mandarin and green tea.

Ray wants me to set up Skype today so that should be fun.  It will be nice to be able to see him as well as talk to him.

Happy Monday!
Cheers to your happiness & health!

I’d like to introduce Vixen my workout buddy and mini personal trainer.

She makes sure I don’t sleep in in the morning by jumping up and down on me, rolling against me, sniffing in my face etc. She whines at me when I haven’t taken her outside yet in the morning and she waits on the deck for me making sure I’m coming with her. She also lets me know in the afternoon when it’s time for another walk so that I don’t forget.

She is always ready for a walk and always wants to keep walking further and faster than I would want to go. She is like an energizer bunny. She pulls on her leash to drag me along faster when we’re walking.

She is also very willing to eat anything that I shouldn't be eating so that I don’t overeat. She also makes sure to let me know when regular meal times are by pacing and whining if I haven’t started to get food ready yet. Then she sleeps in between all meals so that I have no reminders to get up and eat.

She is so cute and best of all she never talks back! She is the best workout buddy!

Blah it's Sunday.  lol  I miss Ray, he hasn't even been gone a week yet and I miss him so much.

Took the dog out for a nice walk this morning.  It is obvious that there are lots of people living out here in the winter just like us but I was happy that we didn't see anyone when we were out.  We live in a recreational property beside a golf course.  The best time to be here is in the winter when there isn't as much activity.

I am not a very social person.  I tend to be very private and stay to myself and I only go out when I have too.  I have been trying to get out more and that takes me way out of my comfort zone but I'm working on it.

I know Vixen, our shiba-inu, loves it when we go for a nice long walk.  It's not too cold out here right now so I am hoping to walk her more.  She loves to play in the snow the most and I have posted a photo of her when we were out.  We are at the back of our house here, the snow is pretty deep but we have been walking quite a bit so we've made some good trails for ourselves.

The plan today is to watch some TV movies and take another walk with the dog.  Then a bubble bath later before Ray calls. Hope you have a great day too!

Cheers to your happiness & health!

Saturday, 5 January 2013

I slept in this morning till almost 10 am.  Usually when that happens I feel awful when I do get up but I felt great this morning.  I must have needed that sleep and I'm glad it's a Saturday.

I didn't take a photo this morning but breakfast was 2 boiled eggs, 1 tbsp margarine, an apple and a clementine.  And can't forget my green tea with stevia.

Today will be a writing and watching tv movies day.  I have some editing to do on a couple of stories and there are always cheesy tv movies on.  It will be nice and relaxing.

Lunch will be the last bowl of homemade turkey soup made from Christmas meal leftovers and supper is going to be steak and roasted veggies.

At some point I will walk outside with Vixen, she'll love that.

Cheers to your happiness & health!

So true

Cheers to your happiness & health!
Sue

2 days in

Ok, so this is so out of my element but I am working on being accountable.  So, below are my before photos.  I never plan on posting photos at this weight again.

I have already started with changing my food.  I am using SparkPeople to record my food and fitness. The link to my Spark page is http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage.asp?id=JUSTSIMPLYSUE
I will also post here as much as I can.  Pictures don't lie so I will also post photos of my final #s on the treadmill if that is my workout for the day.  My workout this morning was an hour at an average of 2.8 mph.

I am a planner and so I hope to get on track with planning my meals and workouts.  We live 40 mins outside of town and I work from home online so I go in as little as possible.  But I am thinking about getting a trainer.  I have two places in Red Deer that I want to check out and will do that next week.

Payday is next Tuesday and I will be in town so I am going to phone today and see if I can get appointments at the two gyms then.  I will also stock the fridge then too.  Most of what I have right now is not bad but it's not great food and I will be out by Tuesday.

Well I hope everyone is having a good day.  Cheers to your happiness & health!

Wednesday, 2 January 2013

It's a new year and I feel like I'm finally ready to get started on a new path.

I have been bombarded, (it's that time of year!), with all kinds of different ways to lose weight and get healthy.  It's hard to know what to do.  All I want is to lose weight and be healthier and stronger.

There are a few things I know..
I am shy
I am scared of trying new things
I love cheese
I love green tea
I care too much about what others might think of me
I hate exercising hard
I don't mind walking/dancing...as long as NO ONE EVER see me!

I am going to be trying a lot of things outside of my comfort zone and this terrifies me.  But I am going to do it.  I have to.  I am 44 years old and it's about time.  I wasn't always shy, or overweight or afraid to try new things.

I used to be healthy, well skinny, happy and outgoing.  A failed marriage, non-supportive friends and family and a lot of stress changed me.

I am now in a great relationship.  My husband is the love of my life and completely supports me.  I just need to love and support myself and this starts NOW!

Welcome to my journey!
